Compounding
In the specialised domain of thermoplastic compounding,
various recipe mixtures can be produced out of polymers through using
additives, reinforcing agents and fillers.
Functional additives are antioxidants, heat as well as UV stabilising
agents, softeners, treatment aids (anti-blockings), colourings, antistatics,
sponging agents, cross-linking agents, flame-retardant additives, degradable
raw materials.
Reinforcing agents are, other than glass fibres, other minerals such as
titanium fibres, carbon fibres, or even graphite fibres.
Fillers can either be used as extenders or functional fillers (for electric,
thermal, mechanic and chemically orientated properties).
